When Life Throws You Curveballs
Have you ever felt like your life was out of control? Do you ever have seasons in your life when unexpected challenges keep coming your way? It's during those times that you can feel your most vulnerable and begin to doubt yourself and fall into depression.
Although curveballs are inevitable and they're actually normal in life, we tend to think it's only ourselves who experience them and this kind of thinking can lead to a downward spiral that isn't healthy and can lead to depression.
So how do you handle these challenging times when they occur? First, realize that they will happen and approach them as opportunities to learn and better yourself from the experience. The key is to not let them get or keep you stuck and for you to continue to be moving forward.
~ Curveball Health Bites ~
*Recognize that life is constantly changing. Be open minded and look at these challenenges as opportunities to change what you were or were not doing. Change can lead to new possibilities that may take you to a much better place than you ever imagined. When curveballs come flying at you, this can be a good time to check in and reevaluate if you've been living the life you desire and if it's been going in the direction you wanted. When you're forced out of your comfort zone, it forces you to look within. Perhaps you were so caught up in being busy before the storm hit, you didn't realize that you had been unhappy or worse yet that your life was actually a total mess. Curveballs can be opportunities to reassess & improve your life.
*Take some time in the beginning to get away from the chaos if possible. Go outside if you can, go for a walk and focus on your 5 senses. What can you see, hear, smell, touch, and taste? If at the beach maybe you can taste the salt in the air. Do absolutely nothing for a little while and allow yourself to feel what your feeling.
*Take some time to figure it out and learn to solve the challenges you face. When life get's challenging and those unexpected events occur, instead of asking why me ask how can I learn from this? Once you move past this, your experience could serve to encourage and mentor others going through similar circumstances. You will get past this. Looking at problems as opportunities to improve skills in solving them will free up the logical & thinking part of your brain so that you can think of solutions instead of negatively reacting to the emotionally charged part.
Be sure and schedule daily self care even if it's only for 5 minutes. This is the time for some healthy self indulgenceā¤ļø
Time Out Self Care Ideas ~
- bubble bath,
- massage
- a walk
- meditate
- yoga
- exercise you enjoy
- coffee, lunch or dinner date
- play hookie day
- whatever it is that you enjoy, calms & renews you
Take steps to get into action and move forward. Curveball are red flags that it's time for you to focus on 'me' time.
*Watch funny movies, read funny stories or engage in those things that you find hilarious. Humor can immediately boost your attitude and mood exponentiallyš
*Embrace the changes and don't fight them. The more you resist them, the more challenging your struggles will become. Welcome these changes as new experiences that you can learn and gain strength from.
*Realize that curveballs may be the best experience you've ever had because they can close doors that were no longer serving you and open new & exciting ones.
*Take action! This by far is the most important step instead of sitting around feeling sorry for yourself and having a pitty party. Start with making a list of all the solutions you can think of and pick the one that resonates the most with you and work on it until you've figured out a reasonable solution.
Note ~ Writing with a pen or pencil on paper can be more productive than using your devices. Research has shown that our brains are more engaged and creative when we handwrite rather than using our devices.
So when those curveballs come, go grab your pen or pencil, something to write on or in and get started recreating!

Catch it and Build a Castle!

About Me
My passion about health started in my teens when I first hand saw the effects of how illness can wreck havoc in a family growing up with parents who had serious health issues. I too struggled with losing weight & developed an eating disorder that I was able to heal by educating myself on healthier habits. Itās amazing what our bodies can do when we learn to take care of them like God intended. These experiences & challenges fueled my passion to be a life long student in pursuit of learning how to create healthier lifestyles where one can thrive at their optimal best. As a mother of 3 children & a wife of a traveling husband, I quickly learned how to implement healthy habits on the go so that I could be my healthy best for my family. This has evolved into my health coaching business Thriving With Health where I coach people to integrate simple & fun healthy 'bitesā throughout their day even on their most busiest & challenging ones. You are never too busy to take care of your health & I can show you how. Everyone has busy lifestyles and living at their optimum best is not only doable but can be fun as well!
