~ Golden Milk ~

Turmeric has been used for centuries as an Ayurvedic medicine because of it's anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidants, and antiseptic benefits. When turmeric is mixed with black pepper it boosts the amount of curcumin that is in the turmeric for the body to absorb. Adding coconut oil will also enhance the body's ability to absorb even more curcumin and the oil can speed up your metabolism since it is a natural source of energy.

*May help reduce depression and anxiety

 

Golden Milk 

Turmeric Paste

Time ~ 7+ minutes

Ingredients

1/4 cup turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2+ cup filtered water

Directions

*Heat water in a pan on medium setting

*Add turmeric powder and black pepper and stir until fully combined creating a moist paste.

*Continue heating on medium heat for about 5 - 7 minutes being careful not to overcook as too much heat can harm the healing properties in turmeric.

*Add more water if paste is too dry 

*Cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Can last up to 2+ weeks.

Cooled and ready to use and store 

 Golden Milk Recipe

Time ~ 5 minutes

Servings ~ 1

Ingredients

1/4 -1/2 teaspoon Turmeric paste

1 cup coconut, almond or milk of choice

1/2 - 1 teaspoon honey, maple syrup or stevia

1 teaspoon coconut oil

Optional

A dash of ground ginger or 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger and heat together with milk and strain before adding the other ingredients 

Directions

*Option 1 ~ Heat milk and turmeric paste in a pot on medium heat setting for about 3-4+ minutes or heat the milk alone and add the paste once heated.**

Option 2 ~ Steam milk first with your steamer and add the turmeric paste once milk is heated for a frothier drink.

**Note: You want to avoid overheating the paste as that can reduce the health benefits in the turmeric. So you want the mixture heated until steaming not boiling.

*Remove from heat, cool and add the honey and oil.

*Optional*

Sprinkle some cinnamon on top for extra health benefits and more delicious flavor!
