About Me
These delicious cookies can satisfy your sweet tooth & they're healthy too! When you use 'clean' ingredients that love your body back you will find that you won’t want to overeat them like you do when you eat food that you might love but doesn't love you. This is because they're free from processed chemicals that can hyjack both your tastebuds and your brain that can cause overindulgence and lead to overeating.
TWH is always looking for and creating recipies that are not only healthy but easy & yummy too. These are super easy to make and there is a vegan option too;-)
Substituting a ripe avocado in place of butter makes these cookies not only moist but healthy too. Avocados are an incredibly nutricious food source that contains monounsaturated (good for you) high-fat that can lower 'bad' LDL cholesterol levels and raise the good HDL. They also provide vitamins, minerals and antioxidants including vitamin K, C, E, B-vitamins, potassium & magnesium. In addition they're known for cartotenoids and antioxidants known as lutein that helps protect your eyes from free radicals.
These cookies are dairy free and you can omit the egg and easily adapt the recipe by substituting ground flaxseed in place of the egg for a vegan option.
Coconut palm sugar replaces processed sugar which tastes similar to brown sugar and contains nutritional benefits too. Palm sugar comes from the sap which has a lower glycemic index vs common sugar. According to the glycemic index which is a value assigned to foods that is based on how quickly or how slowly these foods can increase blood glucose levels, Coconut sugar is about 35 and regular sugar is about 63. So you can see that there is a significant difference. Coconut sugar because it's not refined contains vitamins and minerals so a much better choice by far.
This recipe calls for cocoa powder and make sure to check if it's sugar free since you are adding the coconut sugar and the chocolate chips. Remember to always read the labels before you buy &/or use your ingredients.
The kind of chocolate chips you use will depend on personal preference. In my family they're not very keen on high cacao so I usually use chips that contain less than 50%. Experiment and see what the general consensus is within your tribe😊

About Me
My passion about health started in my teens when I first hand saw the effects of how illness can wreck havoc in a family growing up with parents who had serious health issues. I too struggled with losing weight & developed an eating disorder that I was able to heal by educating myself on healthier habits. It’s amazing what our bodies can do when we learn to take care of them like God intended. These experiences & challenges fueled my passion to be a life long student in pursuit of learning how to create healthier lifestyles where one can thrive at their optimal best. As a mother of 3 children & a wife of a traveling husband, I quickly learned how to implement healthy habits on the go so that I could be my healthy best for my family. This has evolved into my health coaching business Thriving With Health where I coach people to integrate simple & fun healthy 'bites’ throughout their day even on their most busiest & challenging ones. You are never too busy to take care of your health & I can show you how. Everyone has busy lifestyles and living at their optimum best is not only doable but can be fun as well!
